River Boat Cruises

River Boat Cruises

From its origin in the Col de Bussang in Vosges Mountains to its estuary at Deutsches Eck in Koblenz the Moselle covers 520 kilometres - but as the crow flies, the distance between origin and estuary merely amounts to 278 kilometres - and it negotiates a gradient of 676 metres. Over a distance of 278 kilometres, this European river first crosses France to continue as the natural border between Luxembourg and Germany for 36 kilometres and joins the Rhine in the Rhineland-Palatinate after 206 kilometres. The Moselle is navigable for 392 kilometres from Thionville in Lorraine, but 15 locks with sluice gates are required to compensate for the difference in altitude. The "Weiße Flotte" (white fleet) offers a special experience in the Moselland: behind every river bend, a new view of steep vineyards, romantic villages and historical sights lies in wait. The spectrum of entertainment offered by the steamboats and cruise ships includes everything from round trips, extensive day trips, romantic evening excursions with music and more.
