Middle Moselle: In the midst of happiness!
There are many ways to discover what’s special about the Middle Moselle: from the water, in a museum or by strolling through the beautiful Old Towns. And there are many ways to combine everything together in one perfect day trip. If you go on a small boat trip with the White Fleet from Bernkastel-Kues to Traben-Trarbach or vice versa, you will discover unique architecture in both cities. In Bernkastel-Kues, the richly adorned half-timbered constructions typical of the Moselle intrigue many, whilst in Traben-Trarbach, the sublime art nouveau style fascinates others. The home of the Christian mastermind Nicholas of Cusa stimulates the senses with its extensive wine museum together with wine house, in the twin city with the famous gate on the banks of the Moselle, there is an impressive Buddha museum. If you don’t like to sail very far, but enjoy a condensed ride on the river and even using your own muscle strength, you are at the right place in Neumagen-Dhron. Rowing on board the Roman wine ship “Stella Noviomagi”, reconstructed from solid wood, as the slaves once did on the waves of the Moselle, is nowadays a voluntary leisure activity, and in the wine village itself – the oldest in Germany –, there are a lot of romantic corners and niches in and around quaint wineries to admire. The Noviomagi museum, which takes visitors back to Roman times, ensures museum and multimedia enjoyment.
