Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains the nature, scope and purpose of the collection and use of the data of the visitors to and users of (hereinafter referred to collectively as 'the user') the internet services provided by Mosellandtouristik GmbH, Kordelweg 1, 54470 Bernkastel-Kues, Germany ('MLT') as a body acting in accordance with data protection laws.

1. Collecting data
a. MLT collects data each time its services are accessed (so-called server log files). This data includes names of the websites and files accessed, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notifications indicating if the website was successfully accessed, browser type and version, the user's operating system, referrer URL (previously visited site), IP address and the provider requesting data.

b. MLT only uses the log data for statistical analysis, which enables the operation, safety and optimisation of the service, without associating it personally with the user or with any other kind of profiling, as required by law. MLT reserves the right to review the log data however, if there is concrete evidence which reasonably suggests that there has been an unlawful use of the service.

2. Collection and use of personal data
a. Personal data is only collected or used by MLT if this is permitted by law, or if the user consents to the data being collected. In general, it is clear to the user what kind of data is stored when using the service, such as his name or email address and any messages sent when using the contact form.

b. When contacting MLT (via the contact form or email) the user's details will be saved in order to process the request and in case there are follow-up questions.

3. Disclosing data to third parties
a. The user's data will only be passed on to third parties if it is legally permitted to do so or the user has consented to it.

b. This will be the case, for example, if the purpose of transmitting the data is to fulfil contractual obligations towards the user and the contact details are passed on to the provider of accommodation, or if the data is requested by relevant bodies such as law enforcement authorities.

c. The user's personal data is not sold or forwarded in any other way to third parties for advertising purposes or for the purpose of creating user profiles.

4. Cookies
a. MLT's service uses 'cookies'. Cookies are small files which are stored on the user's computer and can save information for MLT. Temporary cookies are deleted once the browser is closed while permanent cookies remain for a specified period of time and can make the stored information available if the service is accessed again.

b. One of the purposes of cookies is to simplify the use of the service. A cookie will save the user's login details for example, so that he does not need to login every time.

c. Cookies are also used for statistical or marketing purposes, to determine how the service is used. This collection takes place anonymously or pseudonymously, which means that the data is stored without being connected to a specific user. These cookies are provided by MLT as well as by third parties (e.g. advertising partners). The user can object to this use of his data at any time by using one of the contact methods listed at the end of this privacy policy.

d. The user can also influence the handling of cookies. Most browsers have an option which can limit the storage of cookies or completely prevent them from being saved. MLT strives to design its service in such a way that using cookies is not necessary. However, it must be pointed out that using the service without cookies may prevent the user from taking full advantage of the website.

5. Google Analytics
a. MLT uses Google Analytics, which is a web analytics solution run by Google Inc. ('Google'). Google Analytics uses 'cookies', i.e. text files, which are stored on the user's computer and allow MLT to analyse how the website is used. The information the cookie generates about the user’s activity on this website is normally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

b. If IP anonymization is activated on this website, the user's IP address will however be abbreviated by Google in the European Union member states or in other states that are parties to the European Economic Area Treaty before it is transmitted to the USA. Only in exceptional circumstances will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and abbreviated there. This website uses IP anonymization. Google will use the information on behalf of the operator of this website to evaluate how the site is used, to compile reports on website activity and to provide the website operator with further services concerning website and internet use.

c. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other data held by Google. The user can prevent cookies being saved by appropriately adjusting the browser settings. However, MLT advises the user that in this case it may not be possible to use all the website functions to their full extent. The user can also prevent the data generated by the cookie related to his activity on the website (including the IP address) from being collected and processed by Google by following this link to download and install the relevant browser plugin: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

6. Use of the Google +1 button
a. MLT uses the Google Plus '+1' button, which is owned by the social network run by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States ('Google'). The button is indicated by the '+1' symbol on a white or coloured background.

b. When users visit a web page on the MLT website which has such a button, the browser establishes a direct connection with Google's servers. The contents of the '+1' button are directly communicated to the user's browser by Google and integrated from there into the website. MLT therefore has no influence on the amount and scope of data that Google collects with the '+1' button. According to Google, no personal data will be collected if the user does not click on the button. Such data, including the IP address, will only be collected and processed from logged-in members.

c. Information about the purpose and scope of the data collection, the further processing and use of this data by Google, the relevant rights and the various settings which can protect users' privacy can be found in Google's privacy policies concerning the '+1' button at www.google.com/intl/en/+/policy/+1button.html and in the FAQ at bit.ly/r3Qmer.

d. If the user is a Google Plus member and does not want Google to collect his data when accessing the MLT website and to connect it with the member data collected by Google, the user must log out of Google Plus before using the website.

7. Use of Facebook Social Plugins
a. MLT uses social plugins ('plugins') owned by the social network facebook.com, which is run by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ('Facebook'). The plugins are identified by one of the Facebook logos (white 'f' on a blue tile or a 'thumbs up' sign) or by the phrase 'Facebook Social Plugin’. A list of the Facebook social plugins, which includes their images, can be found here: developers.facebook.com/plugins.

b. When users visit a web page on the MLT website which contains such a plugin, the browser establishes a direct connection with the Facebook servers. The contents of the plugin are transmitted from Facebook directly to their browser and then integrated into the website. Therefore, MLT has no influence on the amount and scope of data that Facebook collects with this plugin and informs the user accordingly, to the best of its ability.

c. By integrating the plugin, Facebook receives information about the web pages the user has accessed on the MLT website. If the user is not logged into Facebook or is not a member, Facebook ensures that the IP address will only be stored anonymously. If the user is logged into Facebook, Facebook can link the visit to the user's Facebook account. When the user interacts with the plugins, by clicking the 'like' button or adding a comment for example, the information is sent directly from his browser to Facebook and stored there.

d. More information about the purpose and scope of data collection, the further processing and use of data through Facebook, the relevant rights and the various settings which can protect users' privacy can be found in Facebook's privacy policy at www.facebook.com/policy.php.

e. If a user is also a Facebook member and does not want Facebook to collect information about him on the MLT website and to link it to the member information stored on Facebook, the user must log off Facebook before visiting the MLT website.

f. It is also possible to block Facebook Social Plugins using browser add-ons, for example, using the 'Facebook Blocker'.

8. Retraction, changes, corrections and updates
a. The user has the right to request, free of charge, information about his personal data stored by MLT. Contact details can be found in the 'Imprint' section of the website.

b. In addition, the user has the right to demand the correction of inaccurate data and to the blocking and deletion of his personal data, insofar as there is no legal obligation to retain it.

9. Changes to the privacy policy
MLT reserves the right to change this privacy policy if its legal position alters as a result of a change to its service or to its processing of data. Users will be informed appropriately about the revised privacy policy.
